The New Right was the re-emergence of an organized political conservative movement in the United States after being nearly moribund during the post-World War II period. The origin of the New Right is closely associated with William F. Buckley and his magazine National Review, and with the 1964 presidential campaign of Barry Goldwater. It culminated in the 1980 election of Ronald Reagan as president and in Republican victories in the 1994 midterm elections.
