The Watergate scandal led to the resignation of Richard Nixon, and has been cited as a cause for increasing distrust of government among American citiznes.

This scandal affected the Freedom of Information Act.

G. Gordon Liddy was convicted of participating in the Watergate burglary, but dispite his criminal record managed to become a popualar conservative-statist commentator.
