James Gholston serves on the Texas State Libertarian Executive Committee, as county chair of the Denton County Libertarian Party, and with the Signs of Texas Liberty PAC.

He is president of Dimensionality, consorted, a small computer game company, and served as a director of the Moon Society from 2006-2009.

He is a sysop for LPedia, the official Libertarian Party wiki.

He has also one of the main administrators for the Lunarpedia family of wikis, including Marspedia, ExoDictionary, Exoplatz, and Scientifiction.org.

In 2003 he ran for the Denton, Texas city council and in 2004 for US Congress.
