It won't let me add a link...

Hmm, I just added a test link to Wikipedia and it worked. We were having spam problems on that page so I had thought maybe that was the issue, but at any rate... what's the link? I'll see if it works for me to help troubleshoot. -- EqualOpportunityCynic 18:13, 23 May 2005 (PDT)
Only to this page "Current Events". I am trying to place a link to a recent page I added here. I saw you added a test link, but if you click on "Current Events" on the left side of the page, neither of our links are listed.

Appropriate content for the "Current Events" page

What would y'all like to see up here? I was trying to think about this from a 3rd person point of view -- for example, what would I like to read about that isn't in my immediate vicinity, but that maybe other people would know about in their immediate vicinity. For example, what could be going on in CA or PA or wherever that I'd like to know about even though I don't live there?

I think for me that would be

  1. anything that impacts on a national scale -- the article posted about the court decision from OK, even though it had copyright problems, is very appropriate here.
  2. Success stories are really cool
  3. Even non-success stories are helpful to the extent that they contain lessons that can be applied universally

Also there's a whole other approach that I think may be equally valid, which is to make this page full of time-sensitive things that might happen to be seen by just the right person in just the right location. So, for example, I learned yesterday that the LP in Maine has a big initiative to petition for a Taxpayers Bill of Rights. That's coming up in the next couple of months, so perhaps we should bill it here, because New Englanders could get involved. I take it that's sort what the calendar is for, but it's so underutilized that it's hard for me to tell what a full calendar would look like. Empty, the calendar's really hard to read.

Anyway, just some thoughts. I know i tend to overanalyze, especially when i get "on a roll". Don't worry, my enthusiasm will die down in a week or two.  ;-) - EqualOpportunityCynic 07:01, 26 May 2005 (PDT)
