Talk:Raleigh, NC July 10th Demonstration

My main focus while at the protest was to make the dems more aware that Kerry was pro war. I feel that many people plan to vote for Kerry because they oppose Bush's war in Iraq.

The democrat wing of the demopublican party has always claimed the peace constituentcy in the same manner that they have always claimed the black vote. I believe both groups are becoming as fed up with the betrayals of their own party as many publicans. I believe they are desperately looking for a credible alternative.

The continued libertarian presence on the political field over three election cycles in North Carolina has given many people cause to consider them a possibility. This demonstration was one more reminder for a lot of fed up voters.

The publicans have the same problem with a couple of their core constituentcies. They have betrayed the gun rights crowd so completly that it is ready to revolt and anyone who still thinks the publicans are fiscally conservative did not read Daddy Bush's lips or watch the publican revolution fizzel. Now that Son of Read My Lips has turned his back on the most fundamental constitutional guarantees of due process and habeas corpus the constitutionalists among the publicans have no reason to stay.

I spent the day hollering to each group of dems who came by, "Kerry is the jobs candidate! He needs forty thousand new troops for Iraq. That is forty thousand high paying cushy govt jobs! If you want jobs vote for Kerry! If you want peace you may as well vote libertarian.

Occasionally I assured the children with their parents that they did not need to worry and no doubt Kerry would keep the war going long enough for them to get one of those jobs too. I just wanted everybody to have something to think about while they listened to Kerry tell them how he was going to run their lives so much better than Bush.
