Talk:Communism

You know, Marx didn't invent communism, nor did all communists accept his approach. I'll put some notes in. Adam 06:17, 27 January 2007 (PST)

In addition: based on a quote by Marx, "to each what he needs, from each what he can give." or something similar, some people have interpreted communism as an ethical system. The ideal communist community would be similar to the amish 'barn raisings', where each member looks after and supports his neighbors out of the goodness of his heart. These students would attribute Communism's failure to its attractiveness to cynical people, who do not trust others and therefore try to force them to care FOR their neighbors without caring ABOUT them.

Murder and Terror

Is it just me or does this article not quite adequately portray the horror that is communism?

The French newspaper Le Monde estimated that "communism has claimed close to a 100 million lives" and that's not even to mention all of the other human rights abuses that communism condones, some of which include:

-putting people into jail without a fair trial -torturing and beating innocent civilians -state theft via so-called "taxation" -abolishing private property -creating a society in which a high-school drop out drunkard janitor has the same wage as a well-educated doctor who saves lives on a daily basis -state terrorism -supression of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc -Invading individual privacy -denying people freedom in general

Etc. You get the idea.

It shoud also be mentioned that communism does NOT sound good even in theory. There is a common misconception (especially among socialists) that communism is only bad in practice, but that in theory it sounds great. This is incorrect from a libertarian point of view, given that communism aims to create a society in which everyone shares everything. However, since people are not inheretently kind, it is implied that some form of establishment (such as a government) must force them to share. This goes against libertarianism, against freedom, against humanism, and in turn condones state violence/force.

Am I alone in thinking this article needs to be edited to include information on why communism is BS?

Not that im contributing to the article but...

The ads on the bottom are strange. "Find Communist items on Yahoo shopping!" I always wanted my very own Hind....

What about "Anarcho-Communism", It seems like an oxy moron to me! What is it?

The ads are selected by Google's robot, so sometimes they don't make sense. I don't think that Anarcho-Communism will work, but there is an article about it at [1]. Paul Studier 17:13, 19 January 2008 (PST)
