Statement of Principles

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal with certain unalienable rights — among these are life, liberty and property — which contribute to the individual pursuit of happiness.
We draw upon the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution as the inspiration for our Party. We view both the spirit and the content contained in those documents as the birthright of all Americans.
During the course of history, our government has strayed from the libertarian principles upon which this great nation was founded. Americans’ basic liberties – of commerce, of privacy, and of peace – have been eroded by an unaccountable and highly intrusive government.
Our platform sets forth principled, practical steps to defend our Constitutionally guaranteed liberties, and to roll back or eliminate unwarranted, ineffective government policies and programs. We encourage all citizens to join with us to establish the United States of America as the land of liberty that it was intended to be.
