Secession
From Libertarian Wiki
Secession is the separation of one political entity from another. The Libertarian Party recognizes the right to secede.
[edit] Rationale
Secession is advocated on the grounds that it reduces soverignty to a smaller group, closer to the individual. On this basis, support for secession is similar to support for federalism/confederation and decentralization
[edit] Opposition
Libertarians may oppose particular secession movements on the basis that the new government would be more repressive than the old. Secession from liberal states in general may be opposed on the basis that it would create new borders and thereby likely restrict the freedom of individuals to travel.
