Just like internet-organized meetups gained national attention by lighting fires for the Howard Dean campaign, a North Carolina meetup led the way in lighting the fires of liberty for Michael Badnarik's presidential campaign.

Organized through the popular internet site meetup.com, which helps organize gatherings of individuals with similar interests, and coordinated by Susan Hogarth, the Badnarik campaign's North Carolina coordinator, the group which gathered at T.G.I. Friday's in Raleigh enjoyed food and spirited discussion about how to use grassroots efforts to Libertarian Presidential candidate Michael Badnarik into the White House.

Hogarth brought samples of a trifold brochure which she developed based upon Badnarik's position papers, and Seth Fehrs brought the idea of having libertarians across the country writing "Badnarik for U.S. President" on the back of dollar bills in order to raise awareness and name recognition for the Libertarian candidate.

The group, which numbered about 16, was the largest meetup out of dozens held around the country organized through meetup.com, surpassing in size even the meetup held in Badnarik's home town of Austin, Texas. Meetups are held once per month in a public place; interested libertarians can sign for the next meetup on Saturday, July 10, at http://badnarik2004.meetup.com/.
