Natural rights
From Libertarian Wiki
The theory of natural rights holds that there exists a set of universal rights that are unalienable and not merely bestowed by social contract or law.
Assuming this is in reference to the Declaration of Independence the unalienable (natural) rights are "...life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". It is often believed that "natural rights" should be interpreted and/or added to as they pertain to specific circumstances or particular events. Almost every state constitution has some form of "natural rights" included in the text.
Among libertarians this is a hotly debated issue. Those supporting the theory of natural rights included Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard, and Lysander Spooner. Among those rejecting or criticizing the theory of natural rights: Max Stirner, James J. Martin, David Friedman, and Benjamin Tucker. This divide does not correlate well with either the anarchist/minarchist divide nor other hotly debated issues.
