Minnesota
From Libertarian Wiki
The following was posted to the GroundUpLibs list:
- This is a special message from Libertarian Gubernatorial Candidate Sue Jeffers of Minnesota.
- Dear Friends,
- For over 50 years our government spending has been out of control from both political parties. Voters have tried every combination and our government continues to have major problems. My name is Sue Jeffers and I am running for Governor of Minnesota on a platform of smaller government, more personal choices, and to put people before politics.
- For years, like many of you, I was busy raising my kids, running my small business, volunteering in the schools, community and church. And shame on me, I wasn't paying attention. That changed when I heard my city council use the words "Tax Increment Financing", "eminent domain" and "trust us".
- As I tried to meet and talk with our elected officials, I quickly learned we had been wasting our votes on politicians and political parties who continue to let us down. Two major parties remarkably similar as both continue to offer more fees, more laws, and more ineffectual programs that do not solve the problems that the people of Minnesota consider important.
- I am sending this letter to Libertarians across America to reach out and ask for your support. This campaign is not just for Minnesota, but for liberty across America. The people of Minnesota are fed up with a Republican governor who broke his tax pledge. Democrats have the same broken message that hasn't worked. Minnesotans are ready for change. I am willing to bring that change.
- Remember, Minnesota is the same state that voted for former professional wrestler Jesse Ventura into office as governor. Jesse ran as an independent, but to a large degree, Jesse was a libertarian and fought for lower taxes, more choices, and fought for smaller, more efficient government. With my message, the same can happen again.
- People ask me why am I running my campaign. My answer is short? To win.
- My campaign has hundreds of volunteers, all across this great state, at the grassroots level. My schedule has been active with debates with the Democrats and the Independence Party candidate, radio interviews, appearances, fairs, fundraisers, and more.
- Support is growing from all. People of all walks of life are supporting my :campaign including independents, "Blue Dog" Democrats, "classic" liberals, and pro-liberty Republicans and new voters. They are joining around my campaign to make a real change for Minnesota and for liberty.
- Nationally, voters will look to my campaign as a starting point for electing Libertarians to higher offices. The Libertarian Party is the third largest political party, and it's time that we take our party to the next level. With your help we can do it!
