Questions
Should this site be referred to as "Libertarian Wiki" or "the Libertarian Wiki"?
Also, should the site be linked to as http://www.libertarianwiki.org/ or http://libertarianwiki.org/ . I prefer the first, but initially found it via the second.
I guess I should go get myself an account here, now. :) 170.35.224.64 09:27, 2 Jul 2004 (PDT)
I slightly prefer "Libertarian Wiki", and http://libertarianwiki.org because they are shorter. Paul Studier 15:24, 2 Jul 2004 (PDT)
I would like to suggest that the text "Attention Link Spammers: All external links now have the attribute rel="nofollow". No external link will be indexed by a search engine. All spam links will be blacklisted." be moved to the bottom of the main page. The people who would enjoy this page have to read three sentences before they even get to the 'meat'. Since I disabled anonymous edits, we have not had any problems with link spam. Therefore I have removed the message altogether. Paul Studier 01:47, 9 November 2005 (PST)

Very intresting wiki site!... Thanx! --HarryRens 11:08, 15 October 2005 (PDT)
LibertarianWiki symbol?
What is that symbol supposed to be? Is that peace sign? If so, I think it's inappropriate. For a libertarian, there is nothing intrinsically good about peace. It's liberty that they value and will wage war of rebellion against their oppressors, if necessary, to obtain it. Peace in itself is worthless if it's at the cost of being under a tyrannical system. Liberty is more fundamental than peace. They are called LIBERtarians afterall, not Peacetarians. Those whose fundamental value is peace would accept tyranny if it brought peace. Those whose fundamental value is liberty won't sacrifice it for peace. The Statue of Liberty or the Ama-gi symbol would be much more appropriate. RJII 12:35, 27 June 2006 (PDT)
It's supposed to be the Libertarian emoticon. --DavidCary 12:09, 16 July 2007 (PDT)
Inline citations?
How about updating the software so we can do inline citations? Like, [1] LoneWolf 11:14, 8 August 2006 (PDT)
You can do it like this: [1]
- ^ Heider, Ulrike. Anarchism: Left, Right and Green, San Francisco: City Lights Books, 1994. p. 3

The inline citation requires a special plug-in. I will try to install it next time I upgrade the software version. Paul Studier 17:38, 9 August 2006 (PDT)
User friendliness, stickiness, etc.
I think we should basically model our main page after Wikipedia, with a "Today's featured article," "Did you know," "In the news," etc. That will create incentives to improve content, since our best work will have a chance of being prominently displayed on the main page. It could be "This week's featured article" until activity ramps up enough to where we can have a new one every day. Also, it will just look better. First, though, let's get the ParserFunctions extension added, so we can just cannibalize Wikipedia's templates for our own purposes. Nathan Larson 08:23, 31 October 2008 (PDT)
- We don't need to cannibalize from Wikipedia. Their templates are often possessing complicated inheritance trees -- and arguably it's a copyright violation to grab them and not label them as GFDL. There are public domain wikis with useful templates that can be grabbed and adapted. Lunarpedia's templates come to mind. BTW, the front page structure for both LPedia.org and Lunarpedia was first implemented by Dr Ian O'Neill for Marspedia. It would be easy enough to adapt it for here, too. -- Strangelv 18:09, 31 October 2008 (PDT)
- Lunarpedia has "featured article" and "news" content as well. I'm just saying, we may as well go ahead and adopt those type of features here. Having a bulleted list of "contents (please add to this)" and "miscellaneous articles" on the Main Page makes it look like we haven't created a lot of stuff here yet. (Incidentally, we need not say "please add to this"; this being an open wiki, that invitation goes without saying.) Having "featured" content makes it look like we have so much stuff that we only have room to put a selection of our best content on the front page; and having news items makes it look like the site is vibrant and active. Having said that, I'm going to go ahead and rip off Lunarpedia's style for this wiki. Nathan Larson 16:06, 2 November 2008 (PST)
- Very good! This wiki has been less active than I would like for a while, and I appreciate your enthusiasm. Paul Studier 16:21, 2 November 2008 (PST)
Libertarian FAQ wiki
What's the deal with the Libertarian FAQ wiki? Has it been basically abandoned? I've been having some technical difficulties with it (first I was having trouble creating an account; now that works but I'm having trouble accessing the Main Page talk). Nathan Larson 17:55, 2 November 2008 (PST)
Editing the template
Is there a way we can edit the actual Template:Libertarianwikinews news template by clicking the edit tag rather than just the section that contains the wiki markup with the name of the template? Nathan Larson 20:36, 6 November 2008 (PST)
Making those boxes come up even
Is there a way to make those boxes on the main page come up even with the parallel one, e.g. if the featured article blurb is longer than the text we have on the right? Nathan Larson 14:05, 7 November 2008 (PST)
Related wikis
I don't see why we should link to LPedia and Libertarian Wiki FAQ on our Main Page if they're not going to return the favor. Accordingly, I'm removing them. Nathan Larson 19:17, 10 November 2008 (PST)
