Current State

We are currently running on Dreamhost, on pstudier's personal account. They have been a good web server.

Anonymous edits are disabled. You must create a username and log in if you want to edit. Sorry!

Periodically, we will backup the database in .SQL format, G-zipped at [1]. We will also back up images in zip format at the same place [2].

We are running these versions of software on a Linux Server.

History

I have upgraded to MediaWiki 1.15.1 and have gone live. I also unblocked all the IP addresses that I blocked to stop spam. Paul Studier 18:17, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

I am upgrading to MediaWiki 1.15.1. In addition, in the new version I have stopped using SpamBlacklist but have added ConfirmEdit. It is a captcha which asks the user to do arithmetic when an account is created, or a URL added. Paul Studier 05:54, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

I went live with the new version. Paul Studier 05:59, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

I finished the upgrade to an undisclosed location. All images disappeared for a few minutes, but they should be back now. When I get these functions verified, then I will go live with them.Paul Studier 05:12, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

I am upgrading to MediaWiki 1.13.2, and will add Cite and ParserFunctions and $wgFileExtensions, and the latest SpamBlacklist. I'm having the usual computer problems, but so far I backed up the images and database, and partially installed MediaWiki in an undisclosed location. Paul Studier 21:40, 7 November 2008 (PST)

I have upgraded to MediaWiki 1.9.3 with the latest Spam Blocker. No downtime this time. Paul Studier 12:54, 18 April 2007 (PDT)

We lost all images uploaded before 2006 March 9. I am very sorry about this. It should not happen again. Paul Studier 22:52, 18 July 2006 (PDT)

MediaWiki 1.7.0 is installed. Some downtime because I upgraded from PHP 4.4.2 to PHP PHP 5.1.2. Paul Studier 18:40, 8 July 2006 (PDT)

MediaWiki 1.5.7 is installed. No downtime this time. Changed default skin to monobook. Changed logo to work with monobook skins, which is used on Wikipedia. Users can still select their own skin. Paul Studier 18:58, 9 March 2006 (PST)

MediaWiki 1.5.0 is installed. There was some downtime but less than before. Paul Studier 20:06, 12 October 2005 (PDT)

I am working on upgrading to Mediawiki 1.5.0. This should fix a bug in editing which causes random deletions when editing. I tripped over this when fixing linkspam, and I know that this happened to someone else when he edited Activism. Paul Studier 19:13, 12 October 2005 (PDT)

On 2005sep26 I disabled anonymous edits. We have been hit with a combination of linkspam and vandalism which hit about two dozen pages, and hit some pages a couple dozen times in the same day. For reasons that I will investigate later, the difference and history functions didn't work correctly, making fixing things more difficult. Paul Studier 00:15, 27 Sep 2005 (PDT)

Mediawiki 1.4.7 is now up and running. We had some downtime during the change. I now have the ugly URL's fixed and have a blacklist for spam. If one attempts to edit a page with a blacklisted URL, the edit will be blocked. Paul Studier 20:01, 24 Aug 2005 (PDT)

As of 2005aug21 I have installed MediaWiki 1.4.7 in a hidden test site. I fixed ugly URL's and am working on anti-spam measures.

I enabled image uploads. Paul Studier 23:16, 26 Feb 2005 (PST)

On 2005feb24, we upgraded to MediaWiki 1.4rc1. For reasons I don't understand we had downtime. I am still having trouble with .htaccess files and ugly URL's. This version puts the attribute rel="nofollow" on all external links. This means that the search engine is not supposed to index these links, so link spamming this wiki is now useless. Unfortunately, legitimate links will not be indexed either. Sorry. Paul Studier 20:33, 24 Feb 2005 (PST)

I am having problems getting rid of the ugly URL's. They changed the way .htaccess files work. There was a short amout of downtime today while I did experiments. Paul Studier 16:46, 18 Jan 2005 (PST)

On 2005jan18, we upgraded from MediaWiki 1.1.0 to MediaWiki 1.3.9.
