The topic of electoral strategy is a broad one, and one involving a number of conflicting views by different libertarians. Electoral strategy may depend upon the policy strategy being used.

Ground-up strategy

Some activists assert that libertarians should concentrate on local races because those are the easiest place to make an impact. See for example the GroundUpLibs Yahoo Group.

Co-optation and 'Infiltration'

Some libertarians believe that it's impossible to effect political change in the United States without working within the two-party system. By this school of thought, the most fruitful activity for libertarians is to advocate more liberty-conscious policies by the Democrats and Republicans rather than building the LPUSA.

Third-party strategy

Yet another point of view focuses on voter dissatisfaction with the two major parties. TODO: finish this
