Positions
Bob's City Council campaign was focused on changing local spending priorities to more closely match Springfield's needs. This impacts two issues in particular: police and education. Bob is highly critical of local police focus on seat-belt checks and drug arrests, two priorities he says are aimed at securing state grants rather than ensuring public safety. On the educational front, Underwood is critical of spending on middle management rather than on teachers, and of the local government's (especially Mayor Charlie Ryan's) attempt to scapegoat teachers for the shortcomings of the educational system.
